Achtung Classic White
Keeping in the spirit of stepping beyond my comfort zone, here’s another one for you! It’s an aviator style that looks and feels like you’re strapping a cockpit gauge right on to your wrist!
Its a big and in your face watch. It’s not shy and will definitely get you some attention. Here’s specs.
• 316L Stainless steel case
• Hands and Indexes applied with Super luminova.
• Open window on the back case
• Custom cut sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating on top on front and back-case.
• 48mm in diameter
• 14mm thickness
• Quick release leather strap with cushion. (For easy change of straps).
• Special cast buckle with laser engraved logo
• Approximately 140g.
The watch case is contoured to a gauge cluster rather than a human wrist so it certainly takes a bit of getting used to. The lack of contours and bevels while in some watches may feel cheap, the Achtung celebrates the simplicity of its design. Then it makes up for it with some colourful flash in the dial and hands. It’s a fun watch, and it causes you to glance down at it all the time.
In fact if the Red Baron had worn one he would have been shot down long before Billy Bishop got to him because he would have been busy staring at his wrist!
The quality and care put into the watch also shine through in the polish and finish of the metal. It’s very well done. The padded leather strap is one of the best I’ve worn, it’s extremely comfortable. The engraved clasp and crown are nicely appointed and the Seiko workhorse movement is a familiar face through the display case back and does its job as expected. The pull push crown operates nicely and the 50M water resistance is very in line with pilot watch standards.
So as I have said before don’t be afraid of breaking free from the norm and shaking up your collection with something fun and unique. And while this watch is fun and funky, it’s also very functional. It’s easy to read, this particular one I’m reviewing is keeping excellent accuracy and it’s surprisingly comfortable considering the lack of contouring. And while it may not fit under your shirt sleeve, this watch is meant to be turning heads anyway. What a great conversation starter. For more info check out the website Right Here!
